As an independent writer, that is, I publish my own stuff, deal direct with readers, booksellers, and schools and colleges (and the occasional independent film maker). I also make my own profits.
I do not enjoy the support of a ‘team’.
Which is good in many ways but means my work suffers from typos, spellos, random words, plot holes and issues with the layout, amongst other things. To prevent this I have to edit at least one extra time, usually two or three times, to ensure there are as few mistakes as possible.
This year, apart from releasing a couple of new stories, I’ll be re-editing my old work. I’m also planning to completely re-engineer my short story collections. And when it’s all done, I’ll own it.
All of it.
