I label myself a ‘lo-fi’ writer, but that’s more a mode of operation than a sensibility.
It’s not that I write in some scrubby, earnest style full of ticks and scratches, making the end result crude-but-beautiful.
It’s more that I don’t have a copy-editor to check my spelling, a publicist to push my work in the direction of reviews and interviews, an editor to suggest I delete that bit, or an agent to guide my career trajectory in the the most profitable way.
But I do get to write how I want.
Which is the thing.
