I finished a book by one of my favourite authors.
The book had a multi-narrative structure, and generally, that can drive the story along, but this one meandered. Some of the narratives were strong, others were not, and generally it felt like the author was hacking through an undergrowth of plots, sub-plots, characters and scenarios, dragging the reader towards a pre-determined ending.
Which turned out to be multiple endings.
I was never sure from page to page if I had indeed read the final words, until I came across the credits and “thanks” at the end.
