I write because I owe a debt to the characters in my stories.
They come to me fully-formed and I only have to put their experiences onto paper. Often I’d like to be doing other stuff: life would be richer, I’d have more fun, I’d see more and live more if I didn’t carry the burden of telling their stories.
Robert Frost probably said it best:
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.
